The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs launched the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM) to commemorate 75 years of India’s Independence. The Goa State Urban Development Agency organized two days events in collaboration with Urban Local Bodies with active participation of citizens and students.
Various activities such as fancy dress, patriotic songs, spot prizes, street plays, presentation of four way segregation, cleanliness drives, rally, health camps for sanitary workers etc.

The Canacona Municipality won the Indian Swachhta League (ISL) Award for below 15K population category amongst 1850 cities participation in the Country.
The Vasco de Gama city gets special mention in a 50K -1L population mention.
